Kalaido (Phoenix Glendinning) is a Portland based producer and multi-instrumentalist. He creates his melodic, instrumental hip-hop sound by blending live instruments with found sounds and samples. Kalaido makes his debut with the stunning ‘Moonlit Tales’ LP. This album is a truly unique listening experience, which is largely testament to the diverse and skillful sampling present throughout. These sample infused beats are complemented by a range of soothing instrumental melodies, featuring Oboe, Ghuzeng and Trumpet, to name but a few. The foundation of "Moonlit Tales' stems from the mature and sophisticated drum beats that hold the record together; from the two-step beat in "Whisked Away Again’, to the understated boom-bap in ‘City Snowfall’, Kalaldo sure knows how tos construct some sublime and varied records.
